Well, I have a very important topics to talk to everyone about, so I decided to give it to you tonight. I was also going to discuss a topic that was brought to my attention by JonBoy, but I have a feeling I am going to be mad after I write about PSU, so I am going to hold that till next week, but just trust me when I tell you that its a subject that touches each and every one of us.
OK, let's get it out into the open. Nothing in live frustrates me more than Penn State football. Nothing. I am beginning to realize what it felt like to be a Red Sox fan from 1918 thru 2003. We're always just missing that certain something. And quite frankly, I am getting pretty damn tired of it. And, I'll even be really fair about this. I don't know anything about the finer, technical aspects of football. I never even played midget football. I can barely throw a spiral. But you know what? Even I could have told you what our game plan was going to be. It was the same as last week, last year, and even last 1974. We don't change a gosh darn thing. Running "Butterfingers" Scott right up the middle for a 2 yard loss? Wow! Never saw that coming.
I guess it was asking a bit much to open up the offense a little against Michigan. I mean, the two teams that beat them this season played a spread offense. Oh, and one of them was a friggin' 1-AA team for God's sake! Have we sunk to the point where 1-AA Teams are able to adapt more than us?
There weren't too many aspects of the game that I was excited about. First, can we all agree that Ant-nee Morelli was the worst thing that could have happened to the program and a perfect metaphor for why we will languish in mediocrity under the Chad gets his way and JoePa meets the Great Almighty? The only reason we went after him in the first place was because a local kid by the name of Chad Henne decided that he was going to play the percentages and go to the program that has put its last 6 quarterbacks in the NFL. You know what? He ABSOLUTELY did the right thing. Had he gone to Penn State, he'd be a two year starter will no shot at the pros. You know, kinda like Morelli.
Second, pray to whatever god you choose that Austin Scott doesn't step foot on a football field again unless he's lining it. Again, another recruiting disaster. The pride of Allentown that no one else wanted after he was hurt. Shouldn't we have been a little worried that every other program in the country decided to back off? I mean, not even a little? Do these kinds of things ever work out for us?
Third, let your players make plays. Again, I'm not a expert on these things, but its always been my assumption that you might want to try and get the ball to your best players. You know, sort of the opposite of giving Deon Butler one look, and Derrick Williams not sniffing the ball until the second half.
I feel like I am constantly going over the same crap all the time with this team. I talked to DWB on the phone after the game on Saturday, and he made a great point. What other coach in the country gets a free pass for losing to your big rival 9 straight times? John Cooper, from Ohio State, couldn't beat Michigan either and he was out on his ass after four seasons. Maybe that's the problem. Do we even have a big rival at this point? I am so used to losing to Michigan that its almost a foregone conclusion that something bad will happen to us during that game.
I am tired of saying that we need a total overhaul, but we do. Fredo Paterno needs to go. And he can take pretty much the rest of the coaching staff with him. The university needs to put its foot down, and spend a few bucks on a quality coach who was born after the invention of electricity. Can you imagine these players on a team coached by an Urban Meyer or a Pete Carroll?
That's right....me neither......
Till next week.

Read the article about Penn State football that was in Monday's Harrisburg paper. The one thing that bothers me about this is that JayPa is calling all the passing plays. So, the crossing pattern on the 4 yard line. The throw on third and 1. Morelli under center at the end of the game instead of in the shotgun. This fuckin' retard, which is an insult to mentally ill people, has to go. Say what you want about Morelli, but if he was permitted to play the type of game he is suited for, we would all be singing his praise. However, Austin Scott would still suck. He dropped the ball as a freshman and sophomore and that is why Hunt got the calls. It also helped that Hunt wasn't lazy and was able to block during the pass. All things that Austin Scott is not very good at. The laziness is the main reason for the fumbles. And if it isn't laziness, it's poor preparation and coaching. Gerald Cadogen is fucking worthless. The main point of this entire thing is that JoePa is protecting his kid in a massive case of nepotism. Why is it that old ball coaches think their kids no something. It doesn't appear to be the case. Ask yourself these questions and your answers will point to the problem. Is Penn State signing quality recruits? (Chad's answer is YES) Are these players meeting or exceeding their potential? (Chad's answer is NO) WHAT DOES THAT FUCKING TELL YOU! BAD COACHING!!!
Two words: Robbie Gould. He is a mediocre kicker in the Big Ten. He goes to the Patriots training camp and learns from Adam Viniteri and becomes a Pro Bowl kicker. Prime example.
The offensive staff looks something like this:
Galen Hall...he is too busy looking at his contract during the game looking for loopholes to get out instead of focusing on calling a play.
Dick Anderson: He is waiting for Joe to either quit, get fired or die so he can finally retire.
Bill Kenney: He is just sitting around wih his thumb up his ass.
JayPa: He is still trying to figure out which knob on the etch-a sketch is the vertical one and which one is the horizontal one.
Big Red: He is looking for his opportunity to trip the old man when he isn't looking. I'm getting tired of Joe yelling at Big Red all the time. Joe, newsflash, Big Red is merely relaying the calls that your mentally handicapped son is calling. Put the damn headset on yourself if you don't like it.
Half the staff is only sticking around out of loyalty, and it shows. Joe, Kenney, Anderson, and Hall will all retire on the same day.
I figured out why the gameplans always stink: they have to get out of the office early to make the earlybird special.
Anyways, my prediction for this weekend:
Illinois 17
PSU 14
PSU spots Illinois 10 points early. 7 will come off a turnover that is returned for a TD. 3 will come from a TO deep in PSU territory. 7 will come on a long drive in the 4th quarter that breaks PSU's back.
PSU scores once on defense...a DB will return an interception for a TD. AJ Wallace returns a kick for a TD. The offense is shut out.
I'm pretty sure that we will drop at least 31 on Illinois. They aren't vary good. They don't throw that well and we will shut down there run. On a side note, I don't care how many yards Hart had because he ran it 44 friggin' times. I think I could get 100 yards rushing if I touched it that many times. However, I do think Illinois will beat Michigan because Zook will spread them out and let that QB run around and throw it to all those WR. Anyway, PSU 31 Illinois 10.
Morelli is fucking awesome!!!

Sorry. here is the link
Frankly, I don't give a shit what Morelli says to fan. Michigan fans are notoriously assholes. Blaming Morelli is a cop out. We need to address the problem, coaching. Something else I noticed, did anyone see the piece of shit backup running back for Michigan do the fucking worm as Mallet took a knee on the final play. This was as one of the 11 players on the field , not the sideline. No fucking class. I hope that fuck dies.
The fact of the matter is that as a captain, Morelli needs to be above that nonsense.
He is a headcase.
You are right Chad, it is a coaching issue though. The players have no respect for Paterno. The Paterno of old would have sat Morelli for something like that.
Guess who will be the starting RB on Saturday. Its either #33 or Austin Scott.
You saw it here first. My prediction regarding the score was slightly askew, but the result was the same.
WE ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
