Gentlemen:
I wanted to mention this in one of the other posts, but it didn't quite fit in with the 'oh, by the way, Mr. Wizard died theme.'
Well, I finally took the plunge and got a digital camera over the weekend. For those of you already familiar with this technology (aka, 99% of people over the age of 8), I have a few questions.
First, what program do you use to manage all the photos? I have been screwing around with Windows Photo gallery that comes on Vista. It looks good so far, but I don't have that many photos to organize.
Next, what are these 'tags' things for? I have downloaded a few pictures so far to my laptop and it prompts me to enter tags. I assume that these are a way to organize the pictures in the future. So, that in the future, I can find all the photos that show certain people, etc.
Finally, when you download the pictures, do they all come at the same time. So, if I send everything from my memory card to my laptop, take more pictures, and download again, will it download the first set again? Just wondering.
Also, if you have any other digital photo tips or anything else I should know, let me know.

Ok, to answer your first question, go with google picasa. It is an application that goes on your pc, but it also ties in with your gmail account and the web album that it sets up for you. It makes storing, sending, and sharing photos so easy. I love it and it has worked great for me and I have a couple thousand photos in it. Second, I recommend that you don't use any of the software that came with your camera to download pictures. Go buy a card reader and treat the memory card as a hard drive. Find the folder were your pictures reside, pull them all to your PC, and then clear the memory card. That is the way I have been doing it and I never have problems or duplicate downloads. It is also the way I have told my Mom and Dad to do it. So, if my Dad can do it this way, it has to be the best way. What type of camera did you get?
Kev, I got a Canon PowerShot camera about 2 years ago and I just use the software that came with the camera. I'm sure other software like Chad is talking is more powerful....but the canon software did me good. Plus, when you're on a 15-hour flight to Hong Kong with your brand new camera.....you have plenty of time to read the entire manual & learn every damn thing it does.
As for uploading the photo's twice...normally you'll be given an option if the computer or camera recognizes that certain photo's have already been uploaded.
Anyway, stop posting serious crap and get back to the normal BS that this Blog was meant for.
I too have a Canon Powershot camera that is a couple of years old.
I almost never use it. Let me put it this way: I have pictures from post Katrina Louisiana on it that i have yet to download.
I use the included software. I know that makes me an ignorant boob. Though I have to say that the software has never done me, right or otherwise.
I really should start drinking before I post again. I believe it increases the quality of my replies.
Thats all I got.
Couple of follow ups....
I got a Sony Cybershot DSW-55. Its the little silver one. I got a really good deal on the camera, a bag to hold it, and a 2 GB memory card.
I can't believe I didn't mention this in the regular post, but I got the camera at Circuit Shady. They had the bundle that gave me the good deal. And I know that this is going to be hard to believe but they tried to screw me on the price. Long story short, the girl who waited on me had to get the price corrected at the register didn't want to do it. Then they had to call a manager, await for the stars to align, and do a special little dance. As I have said before, I wouldn't buy a CD at Circuit Shady without looking at the price online first.
I had Picasa on my old computer. I never really used it because I had no photos to download. I will give it a whirl and see how it goes.
I will try to limit my semi-serious posts and try to give you the type of BS crap that you're used to.
I'm pissed.
I live in an apartment, and I have a garage.
Someone parked in front of my garage. Yes, this is the place I park my car.
The reason someone parked in front of my garage is because some fucking "traditional" towelheads were having a party.
They need to die. I already disliked these fuckers. Now it is pure hatred. I'll go fucking jihad on their ass.
Don't park in front of my fucking garage.
It was a fucking woman. I didn't know they were allowed to drive. In fact, I am disappointed in the men of this culture for allowing the women to drive. Fucking pussies. They all need to go be suicide bombers together, in a place that is not occupied by civilized people.
I hope she gets beat tonight. That would just make my day. Fucking Whore.
Damn, Wes just went all Mel Gibson on us!
