First, let me just preface all of this by saying that I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. None whatsoever. I hope that someone can point me to some scientific study that refutes all my arguments.
Anyway, I keep hearing all of this talk about global warming. In fact, just today there was an article that I read showing the effects. However, am I correct in saying that there have been a couple of ice ages in history? I think so. So, evidently there were points a long time ago, before "greenhouse gases" and ozone depletion, when the Earth's temperature climbed dramatically. Also, am I wrong in being slightly sceptical of temperature readings done 200 years ago? Let's revisit that by-gone era for a moment, shall we? Think about what daily life was like for them, and try to correlate that with scientific accuracy. Doesn't happen for ya, doesn't it? Or, at the very least, is it wrong to at least bring up the idea that temperatures that have risen 1 degree over the past century have been incredibly STABLE?
Call me crazy, but maybe we are just using the terms incorrectly. We have been conditioned to equate "global warming" with a rise in the Earth's temperature, due to man-made factors. Maybe we need to agree that the temperature may be rising, but it might not have anything to do with the cars that we drive or the factories we build. Maybe our "global warming" is just the latest upward trend in a cycle that has last millions of years.
Again, your comments are appreciated.

Sounds like an intelligent thought process. I am also onboard with you about the measurement accuracy of temperatures some 200 years ago. To add to that, I saw a headline on CNN that said temperatures are at their highest in over 2 million years. Now that is even more asinine. I want to know how they figured that out and/or what source they used to gather this information. I don’t however refute the fact that our climate is changing. You ignore the fact that there have been more severe weather conditions in the past few years. Granted I have only been around for 27 years, but I don’t remember such events in the past. I don’t think we will be experiencing the “Day After Tomorrow” anytime soon, but it doesn’t seem that unrealistic. I do wonder what the effects of all these “allegedly” melting glaciers will be. “Water World” anyone?

I'm down with global warming. Winter really pisses me off.
1 degree warmer than 200 years ago? Thats background noise. If you can point me to some accurate studies of temperatures over a 10,000 year period, then we can talk. And don't bring me this carbon dating crap.
On a related note, you know what pisses me off? I went to my house of worship (the beer distributor) after work today, only to be greeted by a person giving free samples of Corona. Now, here is the thing: There are two types of people I want giving me free samples of beer. The first is your average smokin hot chick with a giant rack hanging out of her shirt. This type is good for you bud/miller/coors/corona pisswater type beers. (disclaimer I drink Miller Lite) The other is a dude who actually knows about beer and you can have an intelligent conversation about how they hops are added in the brewing process. Well, this chick was neither. I didn't even take the free sample because I was so disappointed.
P.S.
Are you sure you are a democrat?
Global warming is real........just ask Al "I use to be the next president" Gore! His movie should clear up all controversy on this subject........so go see it. Oh wait, that's right it was only in the theatre for 5 seconds so nevermind on seeing it. Cars brought in more money in one day than Al Gore's movie on global warming brought in in a month! Nevermind that the lefties of the world proclaimed it the next brokeback!
Global warming.......this has happened for eons with rising temperatures, then ice ages, and so on yet all of a sudden people and their SUV's are to blame. I hate these whinny bastards that blame everything on people that mow them down in their little hybrids P.O.S.'s.
As far as the extreme weather we've been having.......who knows what that's about. Maybe it has something to do with the damn media? Those guys are nuts! How many times have you heard them say that this is going to be the worst storm season ever! That every hurricane is going to be a category 1000 that will stretch the entire continent and cause every human on earth's atomic structure to instantaneously explode. I mean, we all should be running for the hills if the weather is as bad as the "weatherman" say its going to be. Don't even get me started on "weatherman!"
That's all for now!
I would like to comment on something "Anonymous" said. This person is totally on the mark about the media. They use the shock value of flooding, hurricanes, and tornados to push propaganda. It focuses the minds of the little people (stupid people) on these potential catastrophes even though there is no clear way to predict such things. It makes you wonder if they have some deal with Home Depot for every precautionary item purchased.

So I'm watching about all this flooding from the big rain storms we had recently. Maybe I'm an idiot, but why the hell are you building in a FLOOD PLAIN?? I have somehting I would like to submit as a law: If you lose your house to a flood, you will be executed if even the thought of rebuilding in place crosses your mind. Yes, its horrible to lose your home, but use your FUCKING BRAIN. Our illustrious leader, W, put it best: "Fool me once, shame on..on...me. fool me twice...duh...won't get fooled again."
Global Warming??? I think it about time, we shoot people in the face that keep talking about global warming. If global warming was really an issue, why did Al Gore just build a $10 million mansion on the carolina coast...What did he invent the Ocean too??? What a dipshit...I saw excerpts of his "Movie" and it is as slanted as a movie by Micheal Moore.
